Self-Care Tools To Take Into The New Year

December 27, 2024

If you’re looking for ways to bring more calm and focus into your life, look no further. These tools are easy ways to take just a few minutes in any day to relax. With all the things that go on in a day, it is vitally important that we make space and time for ourselves. Some days that can be easier than others, so I look for ways to do that for even 5-10 minutes. It helps more than you think to make even that short amount of time dedicated to something wholly outside of work or doing for others. You have to take care of you first, and when you don’t get hours or days to do that, these are tools that will allow you to carve out your self-care in smaller doses.

The Self-Care Journal

These journals hit the scene a few years ago and they’re popular for a reason. Taking 5 minutes in a day to reflect, set intentions, and journal can make a huge impact on your frame of mind and that makes all the difference in the world.

Daily Affirmation Cards for a Badass

Some days we just aren’t in it. These affirmation cards are an easy thing to keep on your desk or bedside to give you the boost of confidence you need to tackle your day.

Eye Masks

I have been using these for year and love them! I keep them in my fridge and pop them on while drinking my coffee and setting up my day.

Ice Roller

Turn everything off and just sit still for a few minutes, ice roller in hand, and reset your mind while rolling the puffiness from your face.

Yoga Mat

I’ll be honest, mine does not get used nearly as much as I’d like. I found time 5 days a week before having Beckham to do yoga, but since then, it is much less. One of my goals for 2025 is to be more regular in getting my mat out and spending 20-30 mins a few days per week doing yoga. My body and mind will both be in a better place as a result. It is just a matter of doing it!

You’ve Got This Notepad

I use this in the mornings to set up my day. Taking 5-10 minutes while drinking coffee to list out gratitudes and to-dos for the day helps me feel grounded and ready to tackle what’s ahead.

Hot Bean Bag

This is one of my most-used items. From period cramps to cold feet in the winter, I warm this up in the microwave and enjoy the warmth from this little bean bag. I even take it with me when I travel. (I’m even using it while I write this!)

Adult Coloring Books (& Markers)

Seriously. I have found that there are some times when I have a mental block or am having a tough time focusing. I stumbled on these coloring books and markers and love using them as a way to disconnect for a few minutes in the day and re-focus. Often, my creative/mental block clears through as a result and I can get after the work I have to do.
