My absolute favorite author, Sophie Kinsella, seems to have an amazing knack for publishing a new book nearly every February which is a perfect birthday present to me! Sad part about that this year is that I’m just now getting around to reading her latest tome. “I Owe You One” is her latest publication and my current reading obsession. For anyone not familiar with her work, Sophie Kinsella is the author most-known for bringing us “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, which was turned into a major motion picture starring Isla Fisher. The Shopaholic series (which has a new installment due to be released at the end of 2019) follows Becky on her journey as a young, single woman living in the big city with a big shopping problem through dating, marriage, motherhood, and into everything in between.
My best generalization for Kinsella’s books are “chic com”. They are a little bit “chick flick” plus comedy with a great dose of very stylish references. She also writes under the name of Madeleine Wickham, as it is her given maiden name. I more than highly recommend grabbing any of her books for a fantastic summer read. Her books have characters that are fun and entertaining while often bringing in situations that make you pause and consider. Here are a few of my favorites along with “I Owe You One”:
