Every season, designers bring us new collections to covet. However, not everyone is in a position to buy new things every season much less an entirely new wardrobe. For those of us who are ‘budget fashionistas’ one of the first things to do when reviewing the season’s trends is to figure out if you have things in your wardrobe already that fit the bill. You would be surprised how often you already have things that work for the ‘latest’ trend! Fashion, like many other areas of life, is cyclical and sees trends re-emerge over the years or seasons. They may alter slightly, but if you’ve bought smart (i.e. classic cuts, quality make and fabric) and taken care of your items, then you will be in a great place to re-style some old favorites.
The spring runway shows gave us a few trends in particular that you may very well already have stock of in your wardrobe. Take a peak and see if you can spot items in your closet that fall into the following spring trends. If you’re missing something or just want to add in a new classic, consider the options at the bottom of this post for your next purchase.
Think Pink
Blumarine Spring 2020
Don’t let the fear of looking overly girly or too Legally Blonde stop you from playing with pink in your wardrobe! Soft pinks in jersey, satin, and knit were among many to see the runways this season. You can take baby steps getting into this trend by adding in a blush pink flat or heel, or jump in with both feet and go for the full head to toe.

The Shirt Dress
Burberry Spring 2020
I have always loved the easy and effortlessness of a great shirt dress. When it can give the illusion of being a men’s shirt that a woman wears a la Audrey Hepburn answering the door in Breakfast At Tiffany’s it is a winner. These easy pieces are fantastic for spring and can be worn as a dress, with leggings, or with pants to make an easy and chic look for a woman on-the-go.

Stark Whites With Contrasting Black
Alexander McQueen Spring 2020
Classic. Chic. There is no way you can go wrong with simple classic pieces in these basic colors. They are a staple in your wardrobe for nearly all seasons, but this spring showed them in combination in a very impactful way. If Chanel says so, it is style.
