Our Last Home Build Update Of 2020

December 1, 2020

Well, we’d hoped to be all moved into our new dream home by this time, but 2020 had other ideas. Our original timeline of October to December for completion was pushed to mid-December and is now more firmly set for February 2021. While we are sad that we aren’t able to enjoy our new home for the holidays, we are thankful to be in a position to be building a home at all!

So for now, we celebrate the advancements that are being made that bring us just that little bit closer to the finish line. We have inspections last week and next week before drywall will (hopefully) be able to go up.

Since my last post, we have plumbing, electrical, and HVAC in place! Both of the tubs for two of the bathrooms (third will have a walk-in shower) are placed and all of our framing is solidly in place. If you haven’t checked out my IGTV video walk-through of the framed interior, you can watch it here!

Let me walk you through some of the progress we have been most excited to see in the last few weeks:

Our front porch has concrete! I am so ready to decorate this entry to our home with my homemade ‘welcome’ sign, lanterns, and door mats.

Our fireplace has gone in! We have an electric fireplace that will have a gorgeous surround. Drew is going to be mounting a TV above it for our living room. I can’t wait to cozy up to the fireplace on a cold night and watch a movie here.

What’s been really great to see is the insulation going in! That means we are a short time away from covering up those interiors with drywall!

It is wild to me that in just a few weeks we will be in 2021, but I think we all need that mental reset that the new year brings. While things won’t magically change when the year does, we can look forward to new calendar year of challenges, wins, and adventures no matter how big or small. The next time I update you on our home will be in a whole new year!
