March 2nd is National Read Across America Day! The holiday marks Dr. Suess’s birthday and was started to encourage kids to get into reading. But it’s not just for kids and it is more than just a day to celebrate reading because studies have now shown that reading reduces stress (among other fantastic mental benefits). So now we can celebrate the fact that we have a very easy way to get our stress levels down!
Too often we think there is no time for it or there is nothing that sparks your interest enough to pick up a book. However, reading doesn’t have to be time-consuming, stuffy, or boring. Throw a book into your bag and read for a few while you wait for your morning coffee or in that insane line at the DMV. Fun fact: you can even download them to your phone or iPad! There is so much out there to choose from that you can take your pick, try it out, and if you hate it try something else!
